The Himalayan ranges of northeast India provide exciting opportunities for students to have extensive exposure to one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. Challenging activities

such as a ropes course with the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, mountain trekking, white water rafting and an extensive community service project in the Darjeeling area, will develop in students, a sense of team spirit, confidence and self-respect. These activities are led by professionals who are very knowledgeable about local cultures and ecosystems. This challenging experience in the shadow of Kanchunjunga, the 3rd highest mountain on Earth, will help students acquire a sense of pride for having actively participated in the rich and exciting experiences offered them by this beautiful mountainous area of India


(Difficulty: 3-4)

Day # 1 Arrival West Bengal and drive to Darjeeling; check in at Tibetan family run hotel with a spectacular view of Kanchunjunga
Day # 2 Walk to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Everest Museum; Snow Leopard Breeding Center and Red Panda program; HMI Ropes course; Toy Train to Ghoom; Night Tibetan Hotel
Day # 3 Trek with spectacular views of Kanchnjunga range; Arrive Tanglu Gurkha village at 10,000 ft; overnight in huts
Day # 4 Morning trek to Manibangjang; drive in jeeps and support vehicles to Teesta River Camp near Sikkim border; Zip line, dinner and camp
Day # 5 Rafting on Teesta River; visit monestary; drive to SASAC for community service; Night in SASAC dorms
Day # 6 Community Service at SASAC ( square meter farming; weaving, mushroom, furniture building; methane gas production and utilization)
Day # 7 Bus to Bagdogra airport and flight back to Delhi and international departure home
